Hello everyone, friends and family. I have some big news: I just received my Transfer Calls on Sunday, and I am excited to announce that I will be going up to Hanoi! I also have a family member who is interested in learning more about the church (more details to come on that). This really is an exciting time to be doing the Lord's work!
Monday-This is our P-Day, but we actually had a lesson with one of our fairly New investigators, Anh Toan. He is actually the son of one of the Branch Presidents for the church in Cambodia. He has seen how the church has changed his dad's life, and he wants that change in his life as well! We consider him to be our "miracle," because he is so awesome and has such a strong desire to learn more and prepare for baptism! After this, we had lunch with Anh Thang, who is a very trying member here in Vietnam! The lunch included egg rolls, which are my favorite!
Tuesday-We spent a long time at the Tan Son Nhat Church for District Meeting (the last meeting our district would have together before splitting up), and we also got some incredible Vietnamese language training from someone named Brother Toronto who is actually in the Branch Presidency for a virtual branch here in Vietnam. He is white, but he speaks Vietnamese like a native (maybe not quite, but about as close as you can get to sounding native when you are not a native). We also had a lesson with one of our investigators, Em Doan. She is 17 years old and is ready for baptism. She has been taught all the lessons, and now we are just working on getting her parents' permission. She is the best! We also had a dinner appointment with Co Kieu. She is a very faithful member, and a great cook as well! Her son, Anh Hung, is in Utah at LDS Business College. Her daughter, Em Ngoc, wants to serve a mission. Her husband, Chu Tu, is currently less-active, because he has to work on Sundays. But, Co Kieu has so much faith that she is working on finding a new job for him so that he can come back to church! The members here in Vietnam are simply amazing!
Wednesday-The highlight of today was definitely English Class! We were teaching about parties and how to plan a party, so we actually had a big party for the students with music, food, decorations, etc. It was a lot of fun! We always have a spiritual message after English Class, and today we sang a couple of Hymns, "Did you think to pray?" and "Teach me to walk in the light." All of the students participated which was nice to see!
There is some of the week. I don't have much time, but I am able to share about that much.
Testimony Time:
One of my absolute favorite songs right now is "I'm Trying to be like Jesus" by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. This song is so beautiful, and the message is so amazing! I have been thinking a lot lately about how I can try to be like Jesus more. I have been applying many things. I am more loving and caring towards others, because I'm trying to be like Jesus. I judge less, because I'm trying to be like Jesus. I am more patient with others, because I'm trying to be like Jesus. I have a stronger desire to love more and to serve more, because I'm trying to be like Jesus. THE LIST COULD GO ON AND ON WITH THIS STATEMENT!!! I want to testify to all of you today our lives will be richly blessed as we strive to become more like our Savior Jesus Christ. AFTERALL, THAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS LIFE: TO BECOME MORE LIKE HEAVENLY FATHER AND JESUS CHRIST! I want to invite all of you to go onto You Tube and listen to "I'm trying to be like Jesus" BY THE MORMON TABERNACLE CHOIR, and then to really ponder about how you can be more like Jesus in all that you do and say. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
I will leave for Ha Noi this Thursday (6/15/17)! I am beyond excited!!!
pictures:
