Sorry that it has been so long since I sent out a group email about my mission experiences.
On Tuesday, my companion and I, Elder Kilpack (Anh Cả Thịnh) and the sister missionaries, had a lesson with two new people who became investigators, Anh Dũng and Chị Dương. We actually met Anh Dũng at a park and we invited him to our free English class. He ended up coming one week, and he brought a friend with him. Now he and his friend are both starting to learn about the Gospel. It's cool, because Anh Dũng has the same Vietnamese and English name as me (Dũng and Justin), and my companion also has the same English name as me. So when we are together with Anh Dũng, all three Justins are together!
Testimony Time:
At our free English class, we always have a 15 minute spiritual message at the end where we share about the church. This week, my companion and I taught the English class, and another companionship gave the spiritual message. The message was essentially about how Christ can help us through all of our challenges when we truly come unto Him. We truly come unto Christ through repentance, and there's a scripture that I really like about repentance in Alma 7:15:15 Yea, I say unto you co me and fear not, and lay aside every sin, which easily doth beset you, which doth bind you down to destruction, yea, com e and go forth, and show unto your God that ye are willing t o repent of your sins and ente r into a covenant with him to keep his commandments, and wit ness it unto him this day by g oing into the waters of baptis m.
I really like how this scripture exhorts us to not fear, and to lay aside our sins. What is it that casts out our fear? It's Christ's perfect love for us. I want to testify that Christ really does love us, and He calls unto us to not fear, lay aside our sins, and come unto Him.
Love,
Elder Ly (Anh Cả Dũng)
